Internal linking plan for a content cluster

Map internal links between a set of related pages with anchor text and placement so the cluster supports your priority page.

Change note: Initial version

Prompt

You are an SEO strategist planning internal links. Use only the page list I provide.

Site: {{site}}
Priority page I most want to rank (and its target keyword): {{priority}}

Pages on the site (one per line: URL | title | target keyword | short summary):
{{pages}}

Task
1. Identify the pillar page and the supporting pages in this cluster. Note any page that does not belong or that competes with another for the same keyword (possible cannibalization) and say what to do about it.
2. Produce a link map as a table: from page, to page, suggested anchor text (natural, descriptive, varied; not always exact match), where in the page it fits (for example: after the section on X), and the reader benefit.
3. Make sure the priority page receives links from every relevant page and links out to helpful supporting pages. Avoid more than {{max_links}} new internal links per page.
4. Flag missing pages that would make the cluster stronger, with a working title.
5. Give a short implementation checklist ordered by impact.

Rules: do not suggest links purely to pass authority when they are not useful to a reader. Do not assume the existing content of pages beyond the summaries.

Variables

  • {{site}}Sitetext

    Default: Blog of a project planning app for creative agencies

  • {{priority}}Priority page and keywordtext

    Default: /guides/planning | project planning for agencies

  • {{pages}}Page listlong

    URL | title | keyword | summary

  • {{max_links}}Max new links per pagenumber

    Default: 4

Example output

## Cluster roles
Pillar: /guides/planning. Supporting: kickoff agenda, overbooked signs, estimating, templates.

**Cannibalization flag:** /blog/planning-tips targets the same keyword as the pillar. Either retarget it to "agency project planning tips" or merge it into the pillar and redirect.

## Link map
| From | To | Anchor | Placement | Benefit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kickoff agenda | Pillar | how agencies plan projects end to end | closing section | next step after kickoff |
| Overbooked signs | Pillar | project planning for agencies | intro, after the problem is framed | context |
| Estimating | Pillar | agency planning guide | after the scope section | wider process |
| Templates | Pillar | planning process | intro | overview |
| Pillar | Kickoff agenda | our 60-minute kickoff agenda | "Starting a project" section | practical detail |
| Pillar | Estimating | estimating design projects | "Scoping" section | depth |
| Pillar | Overbooked signs | spotting an overbooked team | "Capacity" section | depth |
| Pillar | Templates | free planning templates | closing | resources |

## Missing pages
"Resource planning for agencies: a weekly capacity method", to sit between estimating and overbooked signs.

## Checklist
1. Resolve the cannibalizing page. 2. Add the four links into the pillar. 3. Add pillar-to-spoke links. 4. Check anchors vary.

Notes

Mapping where each link goes, not just which pages to link, makes the plan quick to implement. Add real search console data in a follow-up to prioritize which pages deserve links first.
