Format:
- Subject line (three alternatives).
- **TL;DR**: 3 bullets, including one that names the biggest problem.
- **Metrics**: a compact table with this month, last month and change. If a number is missing, leave it blank rather than guessing.
- **Wins**, **Misses and lessons** (give misses as much space as wins), **What we are focusing on next month**.
- **Asks**: specific, with what a good intro looks like, for example a role and a company type rather than "any intros".
- A one-line sign-off.
Voice: founder to trusted partners; plain, specific and honest; no hype words such as "exciting" or "thrilled". Keep it under 350 words. Make the cash and runway line impossible to miss.Variables

Example output
**Subject options:** Brightline September: MRR $41k, 10.7 months runway / September update: group deal won, integration late / Brightline Sept: what worked, what slipped **TL;DR** - MRR grew 14% to $41k; we signed a 12-clinic group. - Insurance integration slipped three weeks, and sales cycles stretched to 38 days. - Cash $620k; runway 10.7 months. | Metric | Sept | Aug | Change | |---|---|---|---| | MRR | $41k | $36k | +14% | | New / churned clinics | 9 / 2 | | | | Burn | $58k | | | **Wins:** Closed our first group deal. Hired a head of customer success to protect retention. **Misses and lessons:** We underestimated the integration work and did not tell prospects early; we now give delivery dates with a buffer. Longer sales cycles mean we need earlier qualification. **Next month:** ship integration, shorten the sales cycle, test group pricing. **Asks:** (1) Intros to operations leads at dental support organisations with 20 or more sites. (2) 30 minutes with anyone who has priced multi-site SaaS.
Notes
Giving misses equal room and making asks specific are what make investors reply. Keep the same structure every month so changes are easy to spot.
