Create a calming, age-appropriate bedtime story starring your child, with a soft lesson and a sleepy ending.
Write an original bedtime story for a child aged {{age}}.
Main character: {{hero}}
Setting: {{setting}}
Moral or lesson to weave in gently: {{moral}}
Things the child loves (include one or two): {{interests}}
Length: about {{length}} words
Guidelines:
- Open with a warm, simple first line. Use short sentences, vivid but soothing sensory details and a little repetition or a rhythmic refrain the child can join in with.
- Give the story a small, kind problem, and let the main character solve it through gentleness, curiosity or courage, not by being scolded.
- Show the lesson through what happens. Do not preach, and state it at most once in plain words.
- Nothing frightening, violent or sad beyond a mild moment that resolves quickly.
- Slow the pace in the final third and end with the character falling asleep or feeling safe and cosy, so the reader can lower their voice.
- Use vocabulary appropriate for the age.
Give the story a title. After the story, add one question the parent can ask the next morning about the lesson.Repetition and an explicit wind-down make the story easy to read aloud and genuinely sleepy. Add your child's own toy or pet as a sidekick to make it more personal.
