Guided weekly review and reflection

Paste your week's wins, misses and loose ends to get a short review, lessons learned and next week's top priorities.

Change note: Initial version

Prompt

Guide me through a weekly review and then summarize it.

My notes from this week:
{{week_notes}}

My current main priorities: {{priorities}}
Areas of life or work I care about balancing: {{areas}}
Review depth: {{depth}}

Step 1: Read my notes and ask me up to 3 pointed questions only if essential information is missing. If nothing is missing, skip straight to the review.
Step 2: Produce the review:
- **Wins** (what went well and why it worked)
- **Misses** (what did not happen and the real cause, not an excuse; tell me if you spot a pattern)
- **Open loops** (anything unfinished or mentioned vaguely, each turned into a next action or a decision to drop it)
- **Balance check** (one line per area I named: attention given, and a flag if neglected)
- **Lesson** (one insight I should carry forward)
- **Next week: top 3 priorities**, each tied to my main priorities, plus one thing to stop doing

Be candid but kind. Avoid generic motivation. Keep the "{{depth}}" level: quick means under 200 words, standard under 400, deep under 700.

Variables

  • {{week_notes}}Notes from your weeklongrequired

    Default: Shipped the pricing page. Missed two gym sessions. Spent half of Wednesday on a surprise customer call. Still haven't started the Q2 plan. Drafted 3 of 5 blog posts. Didn't call my parents.

    Default: quick

Example output

**Wins**
- Pricing page shipped, your top priority. It worked because you protected focused time early in the week.
- Three of five blog posts drafted.

**Misses**
- Q2 plan not started. Cause: it is large and has no first step, so it kept losing to smaller tasks. Pattern: big vague items slip while visible ones get done.
- Two gym sessions skipped after the Wednesday disruption.

**Open loops**
- Q2 plan: next action, spend 30 minutes Monday listing three goals.
- Remaining two blog posts: decide whether to finish this week or reduce the series to three.
- Call parents: schedule Sunday afternoon.

**Balance check**
- Work: heavy, overweight.
- Health: neglected, two misses.
- Relationships: neglected, one missed call.

**Lesson**
Unplanned interruptions erased the habits that were not time-blocked.

**Next week**
1. Q2 plan outline (30 min Monday, 2 hours Wednesday)
2. Publish blog posts 1 to 3
3. Three workouts, calendar-blocked

**Stop:** letting small tasks fill the morning before the big task starts.

Notes

Naming your priorities lets the model judge the week against them, and the 'real cause' prompt gets past excuses. Keep the notes in one running doc and paste the latest week each Friday.
