Rewrite dense, technical or legal text so a general reader understands it, without losing accuracy.
Change note: Initial version
Prompt
Rewrite the text below in plain language for {{audience}}.
Reading level target: {{reading_level}}
Purpose of the text: {{purpose}}
Text:
{{text}}
Rules:
- Keep the meaning exact. Do not drop conditions, exceptions, deadlines, amounts or obligations.
- Use short sentences, everyday words and active voice. Put the most important thing first.
- Replace jargon with plain words. If a technical term must stay, explain it once in brackets.
- Address the reader as "you" where the text speaks to them.
- Use a short list for steps or requirements.
- If something is ambiguous in the source, do not resolve it by guessing. Mark it with [unclear in source: ...].
Output format:
1. The plain-language version.
2. A glossary of terms you replaced or explained (term: plain meaning).
3. A short "What changed in meaning?" statement, which should say "Nothing" unless you had to make a judgment call.Variables

Example output
Plain-language version You can cancel at any time. Tell us in writing at least 30 days before you want to stop. If you cancel, we do not refund what you have already paid for the current billing period. There is one exception: if we seriously broke our agreement with you and did not fix the problem, you can get that money back. Glossary - Terminate: cancel - Prior written notice: telling us in writing ahead of time - Material breach: a serious failure to keep the agreement - Uncured: not fixed What changed in meaning? Nothing. "Uncured" is shown as "did not fix the problem"; the source does not say how long we have to fix it.
Notes
The meaning-check step guards against oversimplification. For anything legally binding, have a professional review the plain version before you publish it.
