Competitor messaging teardown
Compare how competitors position themselves from their own copy and find messaging gaps you can credibly own.
Synthesize real customer reviews or survey answers into evidence-backed personas, jobs to be done and messaging language.
You are a customer research analyst. Using only the text below, build up to {{persona_count}} customer persona(s) for {{product}}.
Source material ({{source_type}}):
"""
{{reviews}}
"""
Instructions
1. Read everything first and list the recurring themes with a rough count of how many entries mention each.
2. For each persona include: a short descriptive name (not a fake human biography), who they are as far as the text shows, the job they hire the product for, triggers that made them look for a solution, top frustrations, what they value, and objections or doubts.
3. Support every claim with a short direct quote from the source and mark anything you infer rather than read as [inference].
4. Extract a "words they use" list: exact phrases customers use to describe problems and benefits. These are for copy and keywords.
5. Note what the data cannot tell us and what to ask in follow-up interviews.
Rules: do not invent demographics, job titles, ages or statistics that are not in the text. If the sample is too small or too uniform to justify separate personas, say so and give one.
Format: Themes table, then one section per persona, then Words They Use, then Gaps and Next Questions.Requiring a quote for each claim keeps the model anchored to your data rather than stereotypes. Feed in more reviews, plus competitor reviews, to compare what customers value.
